[Devlog] The Crystal Wardens – Explosions, Terrain, and Troop Costs

Quick update:


Terrain Recoloring on Explosion

  • TilemapExplosionRecolor: Bombs now leave a darkened mark on the terrain in a circular radius.

  • ExplosionRecolorManager: Coordinates these effects across all terrain tilemaps, ensuring consistency.

  • BombProjectile Update: Bombs now invoke the manager with custom radius, intensity, and gradient parameters.

  • Gradient Support: Supports both custom and default “dark bomb” gradients, and restores each tilemap’s original settings after recoloring.

Bomb Effects on Terrain

  • Bombs now not only damage enemies but also affect the terrain visually.

  • They can cast effects like freezing, with sprite material changes to reflect the status effect.

Dynamic Troop Costs

  • Troop costs are now dynamic in-game and in menus, eliminating the need to hardcode costs into images and reducing bugs.

  • This update affects the Upgrade menu, Selection screen, Menu loadout, Single-player loadout, and Co-op multiplayer loadout.

Leaderboard Improvements

  • Leaderboards have been improved for better clarity and stability.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the healer didn't flash red when healed.

Looking ahead, I'm planning to introduce customizable lizards with tiers and upgraded appearances, likely extending to all units.
